Hello Travelers,
The cold weather has arrived and, wow, it’s chilly! This is the time of year our clients plan and book summer vacations. So we thought we’d dedicate this month’s newsletter to help you explore possible summer vacations on the road less travelled.
There’s been a lot of talk about “overtourism” and the latest from Fodor’s Travel Guide has some pretty alarming stories in it, things we hope our clients never experience. One way to avoid unpleasant experiences, and save money in the process, is to know which destinations are going to be crowded and which aren’t. Summer is definitely considered peak travel season.
Months ago, we shared a link to Trek Zone’s Interactive World Map of Tourist Seasons to help. We recently found another website that you might find useful, called Avoid Crowds. Just put in your potential travel dates and the destination. It will tell you how crowded it will likely be, along with lots of details to back up what it says. This is just for major cities though.
We then went exploring to see who had fun lists of summer vacation destinations on the road less traveled. Frommer’s, who’ve been making travel guides since 1957, has a fun list of 20 Best USA Summer Destinations.
TimeOut has useful lists of The World’s Most Underrated Travel Destinations and The Best Underrated Summer Travel Destinations in the U.S.
Conde Nast Traveler has Where to Go for a Less-Crowded European Summer and Forbes, surprisingly, has a useful list of 10 Underappreciated Travel Destinations As Alternatives To Overtourism.
Below we’ve got some specials based on some of what we found in these lists and which ones tend to be favorites among our clients.
As always, stop by and see us at 26 Michigan Avenue East in downtown Battle Creek. Our hours are 10am – 4pm Monday through Friday. You can also reach us at 269-962-6255 or by email at sales@ermischtravel.com.
Sincerely,
Your Friends at Ermisch Travel
